TASTING TOURS IN LA FRANCE PROFONDE If you enjoy gastronomic adventures and French culture, join me for this eclectic tour. We’ll visit local vineyards for private dégustations to learn about the wines of the region and to discover some of its special aperitifs and digestifs. We’ll tour a local olive oil mill for a dégustation of olives, olive oils, and olive products and learn about the process of olive oil production, from tree to bottle. Other possible tastings include but are not limited to goat cheeses, honeys, jams and breads. In addition to the tastings, sites visited—customized for each individual tour—may include but are not restricted to: Montpellier, Nîmes, Avignon, le Pont-du-Gard, St-Guilhem-le-Désert, St-Martin-de-Londres, the Mediterranean, the Camargue, Maguelone Cathedral, the Musée du Désert, la Bambouseraie, Carcassonne, Narbonne, le Canal du Midi, Béziers, Fontfroide Abbey, and, of course, many small villages and open air markets along the way. During one of our visits to an open-air market, we discover (and purchase) all sorts of wonderful fresh ingredients to prepare a meal together that evening in the kitchen of our countryside accommodations.
