| French Language Study Vacations 2 - 6 participants per session (Spring, Summer, Fall) Private sessions available: contact me for details Object: These Immersion Excursions for intermediate to advanced speakers immerse you into the French language and culture (Beginners: see note below). A well-balanced program combines language study with visits to local artisans and sites of cultural and historical interest. The visits are entirely in French: you have numerous opportunities to interact with native French speakers in diverse settings. Scroll down to read more about the excursions. Length: One week. As a vacation in itself or as a jump-start to a longer holiday, a weeklong Immersion Excursion can build your confidence and communication skills. Level Assessment: I will speak with you by phone during the reservation process in order to determine your French language strengths, weaknesses, and goals. Lessons: Two hours of mornings lessons focus on pronunciation and intonation, vocabulary building, and fluidity: two 55 minute lessons, with a 10 minute break, Monday through Friday. Excursions: You’ll get a real taste of la France profonde as you interact with native French people from different walks of life. Local artisans explain to us in French how they make their honey, goat cheese, olive oil, wine, wooden pitchforks, pottery (for example). We also visit an open-air market to shop for a dinner that we’ll prepare together in our kitchen -- in French, of course. Also included: local shops, museums, natural and historical sites, such as the Musée du Désert, the Bambouseraie, the Camargue, the Pont-du-Gard, Montpellier, St-Guilhem-le-Désert, Nîmes, Aigues-Mortes, la Grotte de Clamouse. Visits vary according to season. Possible visits to local artists as well. Evenings: Dinner and free time. Some dinners are on site, others in local restaurants. One evening is devoted to making dinner together, another to an art show, movie, or concert. Cooking Lesson: A cooking lesson with an experienced French chef may be arranged for an additional fee. Certificate of Achievement: At the end of your stay, you will receive a certificate indicating your accomplishments. Traveling with friends, family or significant others? Reserve a week exclusively for your own small group of 2 - 6 people. Beginners: Because of the small size of our groups, I do not mix beginners with more advanced students. For beginners: I recommend that you arrange a Study Vacation for yourself and a friend, family member, or significant other who is also learning French: 2 hours of morning language study with additional hands-on language reinforcement during the course of the day and the dinner hours. Excursions for Beginners are in English and French. Meals: All breakfasts and 4 dinners included for each Immersion Excursion week. All breakfasts and some dinners are served at our accommodations; other dinners are in local restaurants. Accommodations: You are lodged in a high quality gîte or privately owned hotel in the countryside, in private or shared rooms with bath. Transportation: Private car or small van. Immersion Excursions are available Spring, Summer, Fall and by special arrangement. Cost: $2,350 per participant, shared room (2 per room) / $200 single supplement. $500 deposit ($250 non-refundable). IMMERSION EXCURSIONS INCLUDE:
